Damage cover, when purchased, comes to your aid in the rare instance when something unexpected happens resulting in damages/breakages to goods or even loss of goods.
There are unknown risks and uncertainties that exist in the real world that are beyond our control. The cost of damage cover is small and won’t raise your move cost significantly. It is a small price you pay initially for protection from financial burden in case something unexpected.
Should some damages or losses occur, the cost of repairs and replacements can be quite high for you in the absence of damage cover. If purchased, damage cover empowers you to raise a claim for repairing damages, replacing damaged items or demanding refunds in case of any eventuality.
Intra-city moves: The cost of damage cover is just an additional 8% over the move value. So, if the quoted cost (move value) is, say, Rs. 10,000 then the premium would be Rs. 800.
Intercity moves: Household goods: Damage cover can be purchased at a one-time premium of 5% of the estimated value of your goods and valuables. If the current value of your household goods are being shifted is, say, Rs. 1,00,000 then the premium would be Rs. 5000.
Intra-city moves: The maximum coverage is two times the move value. Say, if the quoted cost (move value) of your move is Rs. 10,000, excluding taxes, the maximum damage cover would be Rs. 15,000.
Intercity moves: The maximum coverage is the 50% of the total value of the goods and valuables that you declare. As an example, for a 2BHK apartment if the total value of the goods and valuables is declared by the customer to be Rs. 80,000, the maximum damage cover would 50 % be Rs. 40,000.
